Is there a difference between dementia with Lewy body and Parkinson's disease dementia? Join us to learn the differences and similarities between these two neurological diseases.

Lewy body dementia (LBD) is not a rare disease. It affects an estimated 1.4 million individuals and their families in the US. LBD is often underdiagnosed or misdiagnosed as the symptoms closely resemble other more commonly known disorders like Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s. (https://davisphinneyfoundation.org/difference-lewy-body-dementia-parkinsons-disease-alzheimers-disease/)

LBD has three features that distinguish it from other forms of dementia: Fluctuating effects on mental functioning, recurrent visual hallucinations, Parkinson-like movement symptoms, such as rigidity and lack of spontaneous movement. Interventions used in other forms of dementia may help people living with Lewy body dementia and Parkinson’s dementia.(https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/conditions-and-diseases/dementia/dementia-with-lewy-bodiesm)a
